Oh The Cages We Wear
by Anne Faith Nicholls
Oil on canvas, 4" wide x  6" tall

Oh The Cages We Wear is a symbolically narrative painting about feminism and women's rights. Since "women's rights are human rights and human rights are women's rights" this can also serve as a painted allegory for anyone oppressed, confined, and challenged, to find inspiration within. The white dove represents the highest need for peace and freedom. A limited pallet and distressed background  is inspired by classical Santos paintings and old Spanish Ex Votivos for a storied affect of an rare antique find.
