Three Layers of Consciousness_by Anne Faith Nicholls.jpg

Snake vs. Fox

Acrylic on canvas, 48” x 60”

Snake vs. Fox is a symbolic narrative of the so-called “battle of the sexes”. The snake, representing the male, and the fox representing the female, confront each other amidst a landscape of colorful chaos. Each of these animals, both specifically renowned for their cunning, are obviously different. Yet, they make equal adversaries. The burning book represents the rules of engagement applied to men and women, often tossed and burned when it comes to arguments between the two. The eye in the sky represents a more all-inclusive, higher consciousness that can ideally exist between the two.
